EU Taxonomy Diagnostic

Background and objectives

A French mining and metallurgical group with a global presence spanning five continents and operations in 20 countries.

Implementation of the new EU Green Taxonomy, applicable as of 2021, to guide sustainable investment and reporting obligations.

Initial reporting was required in the Non-Financial Statements (DPEF) issued in 2022, covering fiscal year 2021 data.

Our mission

Developed a dedicated support pack for the Executive Committee to raise awareness of the new regulatory framework. This included a pedagogical presentation of the EU Taxonomy’s core principles, as well as a focus on its implications for financial communication, strategic alignment, and access to sustainable financing.

In order to provide the Executive Committee with tangible insights, we collaborated with the CSR team to conduct a first-round analysis of the Group’s eligible activities. This allowed us to deliver a preliminary estimation of the 2021 KPIs required under the EU Taxonomy.

Following the confirmation of activity eligibility assumptions, we assisted the Finance and CSR teams in carrying out a first inventory of capital and operating expenditures aligned with the EU Taxonomy.

The following phase focused on establishing robust processes to structure, automate, and ensure the reliability of data flows necessary for calculating the required KPIs.

Results

A pedagogical and visual briefing pack designed for the Executive Committee, presenting the key principles of the EU Taxonomy Regulation and outlining its anticipated implications for the Group.

Operational support in collecting the initial financial data needed to compute the EU Taxonomy KPIs for the first reporting cycle.

Assistance in establishing standardized and automated processes to secure the reliability of data flows required for regulatory reporting.
