ESRS Standards Compliance Mission

Background and objectives

An international company operating in the energy, petrochemical, and industrial sectors — with a strong global footprint — is seeking to strengthen its commitment to sustainability. It aims to leverage its compliance obligation with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) to enhance the quality of its sustainability reporting and improve the transparency of its practices.

  • Build understanding and internal alignment around the ESRS standards and reporting requirements.
  • Assess current level of compliance with ESRS standards.
  • Identify gaps between current practices and ESRS requirements.
  • Define an action plan to achieve compliance with ESRS standards.

Our mission

ESRS Standards Assessment: A thorough examination of the ESRS was carried out to identify key disclosure obligations and determine their operational impact for the company.

Assessment of Current ESRS Compliance:
A rigorous review of the company’s existing ESG data management practices was carried out to pinpoint misalignments with the ESRS framework. This analysis revealed both structural gaps and missing metrics, highlighting key areas where enhancements or new reporting indicators must be introduced to ensure compliance.

ESRS Action Plan Development:
A structured action plan was established to close compliance gaps with the ESRS standards. It includes targeted initiatives such as mapping data sources, formalizing ESG data workflows (collection, cleansing, assurance), strengthening auditability and documentation, and defining IT evolutions. Responsibilities and milestones were clearly defined to enable efficient implementation and progress tracking.

Results

A comprehensive review of the ESRS framework provided insights into its applicability to the organization. A detailed evaluation of existing ESG practices highlighted compliance gaps. We assisted the client in mapping those gaps and in designing actionable remediation plans, adopting a pragmatic and resource-conscious approach aligned with project timelines.

After this initial phase, we are now working on the operational deployment of these action plans.
